Fairbanks Shakespeare Theatre announces auditions for the summer 2015 production of “Two Gentlemen of Verona”.
Performed outside on the North Campus of the University of Alaska Fairbanks, “Two Gentlemen of Verona” tells the story of friends torn apart by lust and betrayal. Written early in Shakespeare’s career, it has the hallmarks of many of his later plays: cross dressing, love at first sight, villainous asides to the audience; and not just one, but two, Shakespearean clowns.
The design of the play makes age and gender casting needs for roles very flexible. With the majority of the text in blank verse an understanding of performing Shakespeare’s poetry is a must.
Auditions will be:
Saturday May 2nd, 2015
2 – 4pm
Monday May 4th, 2015
5 – 7pm
Please memorize and prepare a 60 second Shakespeare monologue.
Both sets of auditions will be held outside the Noel Wien Public Library.
Rehearsals begin June 1. Performances will be July 10-19 in Fairbanks with a weekend tour to Tonglen Lake Lodge outside Denali National Park on July 25 and 26. Actors will be called as needed between June 1 and July 1. All actors must be available evenings July 2 – July 9–Including a small, but present, chance that we will rehearse on July 4.
Thanks for your interest in the show. Email questions to: and include “Two Gents” in the subject line.
