No Shame

No Shame Theatre

Back by popular demand! Join us this Friday, March 12 for No Shame Theatre – the event created by you and for you. Bring your poem, your dance piece, your monologue about the one that got away — it’s up to you!

There are only 3 rules:

  1. Performers get 5 minutes.
  2. Work must be original.
  3. Nothing gets broken. (including laws)

Admission is $5 — come at 7 to do it and at 8 to watch other people do it.

Bring
your poem.
your dance piece.
your mime routine.
your sketch comedy.
your juggling act.
your nine-person protest.
your monologue about the one that got away.
your performance art meditation on bacon.

Here’s how it works:
The first 15 acts to show up at the door at 7 PM get a 5 minute slot. The show starts at 8 PM. Scripts in hand or memorized, costumed or not, risky, safe, hysterical, depressing, amazing, totally out there – it’s up to you. We’ll provide a board op and and the theater – you bring anything else you need. Have a script but no actors? Want to perform but don’t have a script? Show up at 7 and we’ll put you together with other artists.

It’s a chance to get together and share, collaborate, provoke. We’re joining a long history of No Shame theatre-making that started in Iowa in 1986 — the first performance was given from the cargo bed of a pickup truck. For more information, go to www.noshame.org.
