Fairbanks Shakespeare Theatre brings William Shakespeare’s version of “The Two Gentlemen of Verona” to its summer main stage for the first time. Love, best friends, betrayal and a bit with a dog. “The Two Gentlemen of Verona” has it all. A small cast and a text adapted from the First Folio will make for a vibrant telling of what might be Shakespeare’s most difficult story to stage.
This play is enjoying a surge of popularity with high profile productions including PJ Paparelli’s directing in 2012 for Shakespeare Theatre Company in Washingon, D.C. Theatre for a New Audience’s production just closing in New York City and last year’s Royal Shakespeare Company production was the their first full staging of the play in 45 years.
